Precious Ogbonna, YMCA Youth Development Director is the Associate Teen Director for the Buchanan YMCA. She has worked in youth development for the YMCA of San Francisco for the past nine years. She has been helping youth and teens explore the concepts of civic engagement, workforce development, and health equity. Specializing in middle and high school programming, Precious uses that experience to support our young people with their transition into the workforce, understand their civic duties, and advocate for equitable change in health care.

Anda Kuo, I am a professor in the Department of Pediatrics who is passionate about leveraging the expertise we have at UCSF and in our community to make child health and wellness a reality for all children the Bay Area. To achieve this vision, I helped to establish the cross-bay UCSF Center for Child and Community Health. I currently serve as the Department's Director of Health Equity and Community Engagement and am a senior advisor for the UCLA-UCSF ACEs Aware Family Resilience Network (UCAAN).

Megie Okumura, is aimed at studying and formulating interventions that will address barriers and facilitators to chronic illness care for children with special health care needs as they transition from the pediatric to adult health care setting. I am dual-board certified in general pediatrics and internal medicine, and therefore have a unique perspective on the health care issues affecting the entire age spectrum of patients with childhood-onset chronic illnesses. My research and professional goal is to improve health care quality for youth and young adults with chronic conditions as they transition from pediatric to adult health care. Ultimately, I intend to apply my research to chronic illness care across the lifespan.

In this webinar, Brandi Gates-Burgess and Dr. Brittany Chambers-Butcher delve into the often-forgotten element of research dissemination, addressing the common issue where communities remain in the dark about the outcomes of their participation in research endeavors, and providing insights for a more informed and engaged community.

Brandi Gates-Burgess is a Bay Area native.  Currently, she works as a Lactation Consultant at Highland Hospital, Community Researcher and Community Engagement Specialist for the MILK Research Lab, served on the Community Advisory Board of the UCSF Preterm Birth Initiative, and Co-chairs The Breastfeeding Cultural Outreach Taskforce (BCOT).  She is the founder of Breast Friends Lactation and Support Services, a non-profit organization that provides the California Bay Area with group lactation education, community training, and clinical support to health care providers, doulas and Black Families.

Dr. Brittany Chambers-Butcher is a tenure track Assistant Professor in the Department of Human Ecology at the University of California, Davis. She is a community health scientist whose program of research merges critical and public health theories to partner with Black women and birthing people to better understand, operationalize and dismantle racism.
